Child Support

Child support is paid and received through the Nebraska Child Support Payment Center. The Payment Center keeps track of payments and interest accrued on the same.

The Nebraska Child Support Guidelines control how child support is calculated.  Child support is based on the parents' actual income or earning capacity.  It is also based on the amount of time the children spend with each parent.  While the math may seem cut and dried, figuring out what a self-employed parent’s true income and estimating an unemployed parent’s earning capacity can be a challenge.
